Bill
McMeans...Family Man
Though most people that knew
Bill McMeans would define him by his horsemanship, or maybe his ability
to pick out yearlings, or perhaps by his prowess with a calf rope, we
will remember him for being a great father and family man. There just
wasn't anyone like him. He garnered your respect without asking for it,
and he gave it when you earned it-and he'd help and teach you, so
you could earn it.
Whatever path our lives took,
we knew he was watching, even when we were far away. If you stumbled
(and I did), he'd always help you out- if one of us kids needed a job,
he made one for us (even when there really wasn't one).

August 2006 outside the Blue Goose
Restaurant in Prosser, Washington with myself, my Dad, my daughter
Jessica, my Dad's wife Pat, and brother Bobby... |

In the winner's circle at Santa
Anita Racetrack in December, 1972 (From left to right: unknown, Dad,
Mom, Grandma Ruth, Ken (me), Bobby, Cheryl, and Uncle Jimmy Mayer- oh,
and Table Run.)

Cheryl putting (with Bobby and Uncle Wayne looking on)
at the Pendleton Round-Up PRCA Golf Tournament...my Dad was probably
ducking from the photographer.

'Cheboken' (named for Cheryl,
Bobby and me) was the first racehorse we kids owned, a gift from our Mom
and Dad- he won several races before getting claimed and departing for
the prairies of Canada...(that's me and Cheryl in the photo with dad,
Velma Knowles, Mom, and John Lundberg)

Our Dad loved to fish- these are just a couple of the 'big fish' he
caught on fishing trips to Mexico and Hawaii...
